UK Anime Update: Patema Enters Final Week, New Licences Announced

The Spring Bank-Holiday long-weekend in the UK saw lots of interesting developments for anime fans.  This week marks the home stretch for Anime Limited's Patema Inverted Kickstarter, which will end this coming Sunday. Of course, the initial goal was met within the first day, but there's still a chance to try and add extra rewards with a "stretch goal". The second stretch goal that they are working towards is for the Original Soundtrack, at £40,000.

Anime Limited sent out updates to existing backers to confirm the extras that will appear on the discs. They will include the original Japanese extras, plus exclusive UK content and will be available on all editions of the film. It promises to be quite a package. The confirmed extras are as follows:
  • Audio commentary with Yasuhiro Yoshiura (the director)
  • Interview with the Yasuhiro Yoshiura (the director) 
  • Interview with the voice actors for Age and Patema
  • Premiere at Tokyo International Film Festival with director and voice cast
  •  Original Japanese trailer
  • Message from Yasuhiro Yoshiura to UK viewers (for before you watch the film) UK EXCLUSIVE
  • Message from Yasuhiro Yoshiura to UK viewers (for AFTER you've watched the film)UK EXCLUSIVE
  • Special interview with Yasuhiro Yoshiura from the UK press day UK EXCLUSIVE

The weekend also saw the latest MCM London Comic-Con, which as usual means licensing announcements and updates galore. First up Manga Entertainment:
  •  Gory swords and sorcery sequel Beserk Golden Age ArC III: Descent will be released October 6th 2014.
  • Wacky comedy The Devil Is A Part Timer is due October 27th 2014
  •  The latest Naruto Shippuden Movie Spin-off: Blood Prison hits December 22nd 2014
  • Vampires Versus Nazis as Hellsing Ultimate parts 9 and 10 will finally arrive "Early 2015".
  • Subtitled only movie The Princess and The Pilot will be released, date to be confirmed.
  • The First nine One Piece movies will be released as a series of three packs, starting July 28th. It was also confirmed four more One Piece TV series Box-sets will be released in 2015.
MVM:
  • Supernatural shenanigans in Koroko Connect, coming to DVD.
  • Following the release of the initial episodes, six more Patlabor OAVs are coming to DVD and Blu-ray
  • The seven-part movie series Garden Of Sinners is due to release in October 2014.
  • Slice-of-life Family drama Usagi Drop will make it's UK début in 2015.
  • Fantasy TV anime Blast Of Tempest has been confirmed, release date to be revealed later. In a similar vein they have also picked up the third season of J.C. Staff's Familiar of Zero.
  • Space-faring Buccaneers will go High-Definition, as MVM also confirmed that Bodacious Space Pirates is to be released on Blu-ray.
Anime Limited
  • Dark vampire comedy Blood Lad has been confirmed, with a collector's edition incoming.
  • Cowboy-Bebop's Shinichiro Watanabe's new series Terror of Resonance (pictured) will be streamed via Wakanim UK this summer before a later home release.
  • Fan favourite Full Metal Panic will make it's Blu-ray début.
  • Feature film Psychic School Wars will be released on Blu-ray and DVD.
  • Prior to the show, AL also announced they had picked up Gainax classic Wings of Honneamise, due out this November in both collector's and standard edition.
