GKIDS Release Jaw-dropping New US Trailer For 'Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet'

Is there any wonder that animation fans the world over are excited about Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet? Overseen by Disney veteran Roger Allers (helmer of The Lion King) and featuring contributions from such animation luminaries and Nina Paley, Bill Plympton and Tomm Moore, it's an enviable line-up by any standards.

Fresh from the news that the film is to open France's Annecy Festival, GKIDS have released a new trailer for the film. This preview gives us the best look at the film to date, giving us a good feel for both the Allers-directed wraparound and the wide variety of styles on display in the segments inspired by Gibran's poetry.

The sumptuous visuals are accompanied by some similarly excellent music, boasting the talents of Irish musician Glen Hansard (best known for the wonderful Oscar-winning film Once) who contributes songs alongside Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan.

You can watch the beautiful trailer below. Warning: may result in serious chills. GKIDS will release the film in cinemas in the US and Canada in August. No UK release date has been announced at this time.
