'My Life As A Zucchini' English Voice Cast Revealed

Claude Barras's Franco-Swiss stop-motion My Life As A Zucchini (aka My Life As A Courgette) is being touted as a big awards contender. It has already been nominated by the Golden Globes and The Annies and has even made it to the shortlist for the Best Foreign Language Oscar. It also recently won Best Animated Feature at the European Film Awards. The film will receive its general release in the US in early 2017 via GKIDS Films.

The distributor has now announced the lead cast of the English-language version of the film and revealed that it will debut at 2017's Sundance Film Festival in January. The theatrical release will follow in February in both dubbed and original language versions.

The cast will feature Will Forte, Nick Offerman, Ellen Page and Amy Sedaris. It's fairly typical casting for GKIDS, as the distributor has a habit of attracting talented actors to voice their dubs. They pick established names, but favour people appropriate for the roles over shoving A-listers into roles for the sake of it. Some bigger studios should take note...

The film follows a young boy nicknamed Zucchini (Courgette in the original) who moves to a foster home following his mother's death. There he befriends a police officer called Raymond and begins to search to find a new family of him own. The film has enchanted audiences everywhere it has played so far, so we can't wait to bring you more on this early in 2017.
