Trailer Double Bill: Sailor Moon Crystal and Dragon Ball Z Battle Of Gods

2014 is shaping up to be quite the year for fans of old-school Japanese animation. This summer sees the release of new incarnations of perhaps the two defining anime series of the 1990's- Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z.

Sailor Moon is currently enjoying something a resurgence with the release of the original series uncut on Hulu and Neon Alley, with new episodes every Monday. But we're now mere days away from the launch of the brand new series Sailor Moon Crystal, which kicks off on July 5th. The series is set to stream worldwide, but US distributors Viz Media have now released the official subtitled version of the trailer. Of course, we've already seen the trailer itself, but it helps to know what they're actually saying! As with the classic series, Sailor Moon Crystal will be available in the US via Hulu and Neon Alley.

Dragon Ball Z isn't getting a full blown remake in the style of Crystal- although the remastered re-edit Dragon Ball Kai's release is ongoing. However, it is getting a brand new theatrical outing in the form of 2013's Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Gods. The new movie is the first new Dragon Ball Z feature in 17 years, and is a new story set shortly after the events of the television series. The feature is getting a limited theatrical run in early August, before a later home release. US distributor Funimation have released the first English trailer (although we're embedding the IGN version, because Funimation's version is region-locked).
