Crunchyroll Announce New Anime At NYCC 2025
It's time for New York ComicCon, the East Coast's biggest annual pop culture event. And of course, as one of the biggest names in anime, Crunchyroll were there with their traditional panel, where they announced several new licenses.
Crunchyroll representatives revealed that the company had acquired worldwide theatrical rights (excluding most asian territories) to the new movie That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea. Based on the TV series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, the all-new feature film is animated by Studio 8-bit, and is a standalone story that follows the further adventures of the beloved slime Rimuru and his companions as they visit a private resort island. The movie will be released in cinemas by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, dates to be confirmed.
The synopsis follows:
After concluding the opening ceremony of the Demon Kingdom Federation Tempest, Rimuru and his companions are invited by the Celestial Emperor Hermesia of the great elven nation – the Magi Dynasty Salion – to visit her private resort island. As the group enjoys their brief vacation, a mysterious woman named Yura appears. A new incident unfolds against the backdrop of the boundless azure sea.
Lucky attendees got the chance to watch the world premiere of the new trailer for Daemons of the Shadow Realm, the upcoming anime from the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist, Hiromu Arakawa. The series will debut on Crunchyroll in April of 2026.
[Oshi No Ko] is coming to Crunchyroll, with the highly anticipated season 3 set to stream this winter. The series had previously streamed on rival anime site Hi-Dive, so this is the first time Crunchyroll subscribers will be able to watch the show. Whether previous seasons will also be coming to the site remains unclear.
