First 'Attack On Titan' Live-Action Teaser Crashes In

Fans of the anime Attack On Titan still have an awful long time to wait to get that much-wanted second season. In the meantime though, they will be getting two compilation movies- and a two-part Japanese made live-action adaptation.

Unlike the original manga and animated version, the forthcoming live-action incarnation will be set in Japan. If nothing else it's a novel twist on the white-washing you see when Hollywood adapts an Asian property (see ScarJo in Ghost in the Shell). Following the release of the surprisingly bad-ass looking character posters we've now got the first look at actual finished footage. And the lumbering giants- although only seen briefly- look pretty much exactly as you would have hoped. Japan's live-action anime adaptations don't have the best reputation (often not helped by obviously tight budgets), but we think this is looking pretty promising.

The films will open in Japan on August 1st and September 19th 2015. Sony Pictures USA recently registered a series of Attack on Titan domains, provoking speculation they may be bringing the films to the States (although it could also be related to the anime movies or even a US adaptation).
