Cartoon Saloon's Tomm Moore to Appear at Dublin and Manchester Animation Fests

We've written pretty extensively about the growing profile of Irish animation on this site. As the country's industry continues to flourish, it's no surprise that a festival has popped up to celebrate the thriving scene. Since 2011 the Dublin Animation Festival has taken place annually and has been steadily growing each year.

This year's festival takes place October 16th and 17th 2015 and arguably the biggest name in Irish animation will be there.  Twice Oscar-nominated director Tomm Moore from Cartoon Saloon will take part in a Q & A following a screening of the fantastic Song Of The Sea that will take place on the 17th at 12.10pm. This is an unmissable event for any fans who are in the area!

Also due to give talks at the festival are Damian O'Connor from Brown Bag Films and Karrot Animation's Michele Chiappa, while Ian Mackinnon from the UK stop-motion studio Mackinnon & Saunders (Fantastic Mr Fox) will be there to host a retrospective of his studio's works.

For more details and to book tickets head over to the festival's website.

Moore will also take a trip across the Irish Sea to appear at the Manchester Animation Festival in England. The director will be hosting a 'Master Class' as part of the festival which takes place for the first time on November 17th-19th. Song Of The Sea will also be screening later the same day.

Mackinnon & Saunders will have a presence here too- acting not only as sponsors, but also responsible for designing the rather nifty award that the Festival will give out to winners in the festival's competition.

The rest of the lineup has yet to be announced but you can check out the festival's website for more.
