Japan Foundation London To Screen 'A Silent Voice'

The Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme has been bringing the best in Japanese cinema old and new to audiences in the UK for some 14 years now. Now it's back with a brand new line-up for 2017. The programme will normally find room for at least one animated film, and this year that film is A Silent Voice.

A Silent Voice (Koe no katachi) is a 2016 feature directed by Naoko Yamada and produced by the acclaimed studio Kyoto Animation. Adapted from Yoshitoki ÅŒimas' manga of the same name, it follows a teenager named Shoko who is haunted by his past bullying of a deaf classmate. When he meets her again years later he decides to try and redeem himself. But is is already too late?

The film is due to be screened more widely in the UK this year via Anime Limited, but this will be one of the first chances to see it. It will screen on some locations of the touring programme, which will take in 15 cities between the 3rd of February and March 29th. It will also screen at London's ICA on February 5th at 2.40pm.

The full tour schedule is as follows: but please note that screening line-ups may vary and A Silent Voice may not be screening at every location listed. Please check with your local venue.
