'Rick and Morty' Comes To VR

Virtual Reality is hotly tipped to be the next major step forward in technology. The jury's still out over whether it will revolutionise gaming and film or turn out to be a flashy gimmick, but right now exciting things are definitely happening in the VR world. Animation is a major component of the experience, so it's only natural that animated properties would start to get animated tie-ins.

Rick and Morty already has a number of game spin-offs, including the Pokemon clone Pocket Mortys. Now, thanks to Adult Swim Games and Owlchemy Labs, fans have the chance to step inside the show's bizarre sci-fi universe in the VR experience Virtual Rick-ality.

Adult Swim describes the game:

"Experience life as a clone of Morty and all the trauma that comes with it. Step through portals to strange worlds, help Rick with his bizarre experiments, and use your hands in VR to pick up and play in an interaction-filled 3D Rick-ality. Follow Rick's directions (or don't!) to solve puzzles and complete missions in this fully voice acted adventure."

Based on the engine of the game Job Simulator, the game takes players to locations from the series including Rick's garage, The Smith household and even- of course- alien worlds. And it wouldn't be Rick and Morty without Justin Roiland returning to reprise the title characters. Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality was awarded 'Best VR Game' at PAX East 2017.

Available now via Steam, the game is available for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Check out the launch trailer below!
