Kickstart This: 'Blossom Detective Holmes: The Animated Mini-Series'

If you are a fan of Voltron Legendary Defender, The Legend of Korra and detective fiction, then you're not going to want to miss Blossom Detective Holmes. The new anime-style mini-series from Steve Ahn (a director on both Voltron and Korra) has now launched on Kickstarter.

Blossom Detective Holmes is set in Stockholm, Sweden and centres on two teenage detectives: Skylar Holmes and Jamie. The pitch describes the two girls:

"Skylar has the instincts of an expert detective and a heightened sense of smell, almost hound like, that allows her to gather data through scent alone.  Jamie, on the other hand, is meticulous and uses visible evidence and logic to uncover the truth.  Jamie also carries a special Polaroid camera that can transport them anywhere in the world with a quick snap of the camera."

The series is a story of mystery, action and suspense, and will see the duo investigating a murder in the case called "Selfie With A Strange Intruder". A pilot episode has already been produced. The project is seeking a minimum of $60,000 to produce the second episode. Each stretch goal will allow them to produce additional episodes. The hope is to reach $300,000, enough to complete all six planned episodes and complete the story.

Ahn has assembled an stellar team, featuring not only various artists who worked alongside him on Korra, Avatar The Last Airbender and Voltron, but also a former Studio Ghibli background artist. The pilot episode is undoubtedly impressive, with an animation style that does a good job of capturing the typical anime aesthetic- it's even made in Japanese.

Rewards include digital downloads, Blu-rays, posters and artbooks, right up to the chance to appear as a character in the series.

The campaign will run until March 2. If it looks like something you'd like to see become a reality head over to the campaign page today.
