New Justin Roiland Series 'Solar Opposites' Coming To Hulu

It seems that the video streaming sites are engaged in something of an animation arms race right now, with Netflix, Amazon and Hulu competing to get the biggest talents to sign on. In the same week that Alex Hirsch's deal with Netflix is announced, fellow US streaming company Hulu has acquired a big name of its own.

As the co-creator of the phenomenally popular Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland is currently one of the top talents in animated TV. Roiland will be bringing his new adult animated series Solar Opposites to Hulu. The initial order is for two eight-episode seasons, with the first set to debut in 2020.  Hulu is currently only available in the United States (and Japan) so it's not yet clear where international audiences will be able to watch the series when it launches.

Solar Opposites is a comedy featuring a family of aliens "from a better world" who must make a new home in middle America. The series is created by Roiland with fellow Rick and Morty alum Mike McMahan.

Roiland and McMahan are writers and executive producers on the series, and Roiland will also voice two of the main characters. Mary Mack and Sean Giambrone will also star.

This is a project that was previously in development at Fox (20th Century Fox Television will still handle production) and Roiland shared images via social media back in 2015. While it is likely that the series may have changed quite a bit since then, it at least will give us an idea of what to expect. Check out more images, below.
