Warner Bros Readying "Lego Batman" Spin-Off Movie

Among the many pleasures offered by this year's Lego Movie was how it played around with the various licenses held by the toy company. Blocky versions of DC characters, Star Wars characters, Lord of The Rings and more cropped up. But most prominently of these was Lego Batman, who actually turned out to be one of the main characters- and a definite highlight. So well received was Will Arnett's portrayal of the plastic Dark Knight in fact, that Warner Bros. are now fast-tracking a spin-off centred on the character.

Lego Batman is being developed with an eye to a 2017 release, which means The Lego Movie 2 is apparently being pushed back. The spin-off will be directed by Chris McKay, animation supervisor from the earlier film, with a script by Seth Grahame-Smith (author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies). Original directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord will return as executive producers.

With Arnett returning to voice Batman, will we see other DC characters returning? Will other Lego Movie characters cameo? We can't wait to find out, and we'll bring you more details when we get them. We're definitely looking forward to this a great deal more than a certain other Bat-movie currently in development...
