Cannon Busters Teaser Released.

Although co-productions happen fairly regularly, it's still pretty rare to see anime directed by anyone non-Japanese. Cannon Busters is an unusual mix- although it's being produced by Japanese studio Satelight most of the creative team behind it hail from the West. Most prominent among them is American animator LeSean Thomas, best known for his work on The Boondocks, Black Dynamite, and Book Of Kora. Cannon Busters is his baby, being based on his single issue comic book of the same name. Thomas will be acting as writer and director on the animated incarnation.

The hope if for it to be turned into a full series, but right now they're working on a pilot. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign last year  Makestuff LLC has now released the d├ębut teaser. It gives audiences their first look at the ( frankly, awesome looking) animation, and reveals that the pilot is targeting a January 2016 release. If you missed the chance to back the campaign, you can still get select pledges by donating via PayPal at the official site. Check out the trailer and the official synopsis below!

The first, teaser trailer to the newest and wackiest adventure this side of Gearbolt! Cannon Busters: The Animated Series Pilot
Explore the fantastic land of Gearbolt as we follow a motley crew of travelers on an unforgettable journey to reunite 2 best friends. S.A.M. is a high-end, friendship robot, determined to reunite with her best friend Kelby, the missing heir to her Kingdom under siege. Casey Turnbuckle is an out-dated, spunky greasy-monkey repair robot, looking for an upgrade. Philly the Kid is a wanted, immortal fugitive just looking for a chance to shake them. Along for the ride is the greatest swordsman never known and a suped up, Cadillac Eldorado that transforms into a sentient, giant robot. On their own, they're a lost cause. Together, they're the hippest world travelers this side of 2D animation!
A journey is best measured in friends, not miles!
