Netflix Unveils First 'Disenchantment' Trailer

Of all the many animation projects that have been announced by Netflix over recent times, few can be as eagerly anticipated as Disenchantment. The new series from The Simpsons and Futurama creator Matt Groening promises to do for fantasy and medieval fiction what his previous shows did for family sitcoms and science-fiction, respectively.

Netflix has now revealed the first teaser for the new series. It's a teaser through and through at just 30 seconds or so of actual footage- but it's enough to get fans excited. Starting with some impressive cel-shaded CGI animation (an evolution of the technique used in Futurama) and a Maurice LaMarche voice-over, it gives us our very first look at the series in motion.

The first major character we meet is the King (voiced by none other than John DiMaggio) as he disapprovingly casts his judgement on the person brought before him. Only, as it turns out, this is his daughter- and the show's lead, a "hard-drinking princess" Bean, voiced by Broad City's Abbi Jacobson.

Also present are Bean's sidekicks, a feisty elf and her personal demon -although their faces are covered by sacks, and they don't have any lines.

There's really not much else to it, but it looks like Groening's third series is going to be another firm fan favourite. Disenchantment will begin streaming on Netflix everywhere on August 17, 2018. We can't wait!
