First Full Trailer For 'The Addams Family' Hits Town

The Addams Family and animation seem like a perfect match. They may be best known for the 90's movies and the original 60's live-action TV series, but they started as a comic strip created by Charles Addams. There was also two animated TV series in the 70's and 90's. So the decision to bring the franchise back as an animated movie seems pretty smart.

It would be fair to say however that the reaction to the first images and teaser trailer has been less than stellar- despite some pretty on-point casting, with Oscar Isaac as Gomez and Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday. The first full trailer has now arrived and it gives us our first proper look at the thing in motion. Speaking of things... it also features fave favourite disembodied  hand (and family pet?) Thing and the hirsute Cousin It.

The animation may be CG, but the character designs are faithful to the original comic strip's style. giving it a somewhat old-fashioned look. The animation quality itself isn't going to give Pixar any sleepless nights but it looks decent enough. As for the jokes.. they look like classic Addams Family stuff, with the creepy and kooky family's ways bringing them into conflict with everyday society when they move into a new neighbourhood. But whether this story will connect with today's audience remains to be seen.

The Addams Family is directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan and also stars Charlize Theron, Bette Midler, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll and Snoop Dogg. It hits US cinemas on October 11, and arrives in the UK just in time for Halloween on October 25.
