AFA UK: Manimation, Weathering With You, Cardiff Animation, Miyazaki
It was announced at this month's Scotland Loves Anime festival that Makoto Shinkai's eagerly awaited new feature Weathering With You will arrive in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on January 17, 2020, the same day it's released in the United States. Distributor Anime Limited will release the film both in subtitled and dubbed editions. Unlike most Anime Limited screenings, it will not be a single day release and will screen for at least a week.
Manimation, the annual animation gathering in Manchester will return on Monday November 11, at Social 7 at MediaCity UK. This year's event will feature keynote speeches from Peter Lord, the co-founder and creative director of Aardman Animation and Sarah Muller, head of BBC Children's acquisitions and independent animation. The poster has been revealed for the 2020 Cardiff Animation Festival, designed by local artist Becky Peel.
Picturehouse cinemas will screen a series of Hayao Miyazaki films throughout November in their Vintage Sundays strand. The Sunday screenings will comprise of My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke.
