'Klaus' Leads Third Quirino Award Nominations

The Ibero-American Animation Quirino Awards is set to return for a third time this April.  The Quirino awards were established to recognise excellence in animation produced in Ibero-America (Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries). The nominations have been announced for this year's ceremony, which will take place on April 18 on the Spanish island of Tenerife.

At the same time, the Ibero-American Co-Production and Business forum will also return for a third time on the island from April 17-18. The forum is open to professionals from Spain, Portugal, Latin America and Andora and to distributors, agents and potential co-producers from outside who are interested in Ibero-American animation

Across nine categories, the most nominations went to works from Spain and Portugal (14 nominations) followed by Argentina and Brazil (10 nominations).  39 different works were selected from 219 total entries submitted.

Leading the pack are Sergio Pablos's Oscar-nominated Klaus (produced in Spain) and Portugese shorts Uncle Thomas Accounting for the Days and Nestor, with 4 nominations apiece.
