Welcome back web wanderers. Looking for the best in online animation? Then wander no more, as AFA's  Web Animation Watch will round up the latest and the greatest for you. You're welcome. This week, we've got crazy dreams, memories, nightmares and flights of fancy.

If you've made something- be it a web short, web series episode, student film, music video or something else- you think would be a good fit for a future column, or if you've just found something cool, please drop us a line.

The Ultimate Ratatouille Recap Cartoon

The inimitable Cas van de Pol turns their sights on Pixar for the latest Ultimate Recap Cartoon. If you've seen the past episodes, you'll be familiar with Cas's unique style, which recreates favourite movies (but not quite as you remember this). This particular cartoon has even got Ratatouille director Brad Bird's seal of approval. Check out Cas's Patreon here.

Rose

Rose - Animated Short Film from Emily Kimes on Vimeo.

A young woman about to start college looks back on her childhood and her relationship with her mother in this heartstring-tugging short. As a student film, it's not hard to imagine that director and animator Emily Kimes is drawing on her own experiences and emotions (even if it's not autobiographical).  A touching piece, with some beautiful design work.

Cartoon Nightmares: Pocket Monster

PICK OF THE WEEK It's been a while since we've heard from Someone's Ex, creator of the fabulous Glenda The Classiest Galaxy Tourist here on WAW. So colour us surprised to see them responsible for the latest instalment of Mashed's Cartoon Nightmare's series. And probably responsible for the nightmares we're about to have for the next month after watching this disturbing short film. (Sob). It's nominally about Pokemon, (as the title indicates) but it mutates into a sharp and blackly comic satire of modern media (particularly skewering one certain Mouse house). It's definitely the darkest thing Mashed has ever put out. It makes Salad Fingers look like SpongeBob Square Pants.

Yoke Lore | Fade Away

Our next pick could hardly be more different. This animated video for Yoke Lore's new track Fade Away takes a really entertaining approach to the story of boy meets cheetah. The video contrasts the build-up and reaction of the two cleverly to make us empathise with them both equally. Directed and animated by Aishwarya Sadasivan.
