Final Space Season 3, Gargoyles, Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Sparkshorts and more

The animation world is a fast-moving ever-changing place and there's more than any one person can keep up with. In our new regular feature Odds and Ends we round up shorter news stories, updates, cool links and other animation related awesomeness you might have missed over the past few days.


Crunchyroll have revealed the winners of the 2021 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.  Jujutsu Kaisen was named Anime Of The Year and  Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! was awarded for best animation and best director for Masaaki Yuasa. See the full list of winners and nominees here.


Final Space season three will come to Adult Swim from March 20 at 10:30 PM. Check out the full trailer here. Seasons 1 and 2 will be coming to HBO Max from March 1. Outside the US, Final Space is a Netflix exclusive and the third season is coming soon (date TBC).

Harry Shearer will no longer voice Doctor Hibbert on The Simpsons. The move comes after the show committed to no longer having non-white characters voiced by white actors. Kevin Michael Richardson will take over the role.

90's Disney Afternoon fave Gargoyles is back- as an officially licenced board game. Ravensburger's new game Gargoyles: Awakening will be available this August exclusively at Target.

Puerto Rican film-maker Kristian Mercado Figueroa will debut his new short Nuevo Rico as part of the SXSW 2021 online festival, as part of the animated shorts competition. Figueroa is a past winner of the SXSW Jury prize, for his previous film Palante. The film is described as "Reggaetón-Fueled Latinx-Futurism".

A brother and sister stumble upon a celestial secret that changes their lives forever and propels them into Reggaetón stardom, but they soon discover that their newfound fame comes at a deep price.

Funimation have launched an Attack on Titan AR filter allowing you to experience the hit series in real life through your phone. The filter, available via Facebook and Instagram puts you in the shoes of a budding cadet, on the lookout for Titan incursions in your area.
