Attack On Titan: The Final Season, Part 2 Arrives in January

Attack On Titan
is right up there with the biggest break-out anime hits. The first season gripped audiences worldwide in 2013 and was one of those rare series to cross over and become popular even outside the usual anime fandom. However, there was a significant wait between the first and second season, so when season two finally arrived in 2017 it didn't generate quite the same buzz. It was still a big hit though, and the producers were keen to make sure there wouldn't be such a long wait before the next season. Season three followed, airing in two parts across 2018 and 2019. Season four aired 18 episodes across 2020 and 2021.

Season four was subtitled The Final Season, and audiences were surprised that the final episode did not wrap up the story. It was then announced that there was actually going to be a second part to the season that will bring the series to its end. The final season saw animation production shift from Wit Studio who had produced the series so far to Mappa.

Attack On Titan: The Final Season, Part 2 has been revealed to return in January 2022. The series will stream on Crunchyroll, Funimation subtitled in eight languages, available in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide from January 9. For US viewers, the series will also stream on Hulu.

The series will pick up where the first half left off, and episode 76 and will see the war for Paradis explode and the lines between friends and enemies become ever more blurred.

Although not mentioned in the announcement, Funimation will almost certainly confirm an English dub will debut at a later date. It's not yet clear how many episodes the new part will contain.

If you have yet to see what all the fuss is about, then you have time to get up to speed before the new series airs. The series is based on the best selling manga from Hajime Isayama which has more than 100 million copies in print. Seasons 1-4 (part one) are available streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation. In the US, its also available via Hulu, Adult Swim, VRV, Tubi and Netflix (available seasons may vary)

Many years ago, humanity was forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that lurked outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scout Regiment dared to stray behind the safety of the walls –but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive.
