Second Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Trailer Arrives

Ask any animation their most anticipated movie of 2023, then the chances are good they'll say Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. But as the sequel to one of the most acclaimed animated features of all time (2018's Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse), the pressure is definitely on.

There's a new team in the director's chair this time around with Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K Thompson stepping in to take over from the original trio. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are back on writing duty alongside Shang Chi scribe Dave Callaham.

While the first film saw Miles Morales visited by alternative Spider-Men (and women and pigs) in his dimension, this time he and Spider-Gwen will be visiting other universes. But when the heroes disagree on how to handle a new threat that arises, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero.

The new trailer reintroduces us to Miles, who is struggling to balance his life as Spider-Man and the usual trappings of being a teen. He's visited by another trans-dimensional being in the form of a strange character called The Spot, who appears to have portals on his body.

Then Gwen Stacy shows up and asks Miles if he wants to get out of there. They travel to a place called The Lobby which seems to be full of Spider-People from dozens of different dimensions. In this place they meet Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 and are reunited with Peter B Parker- now with baby Mayday in tow. We learn there is an elite crew of Spider-People tasked with protecting the multi-verse.

The rest of the second trailer teases even more Spider-people and seems to put Miles on a collision course with some of them. There's even a nice nod to Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The sequel promises to be bigger than the original in every way. Incredibly ambitious in scope, it looks set to tell a much more complicated and mind-bending story. The animation style of the first film is back, and if anything looks even more spectacular this time around. The sequel will also introduce even more new animation styles as it journeys into more universes.
