Netflix Release Full 'Nimona' Trailer

Nimona
has a long and rocky road to our screens. Initially in production at Blue Sky Studios, it was cancelled by Disney when it closed the studio down. It was subsequently rescued by Netflix, with animation production moving to DNEG and Annapurna Pictures coming on as co-producers.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by She-Ra and The Princesses Of Power creator N.D. Stevenson, the film has had a lot of extremely positive buzz around it for a long time. So it feels a little surreal that we're finally going to be getting to see it for ourselves soon.

The film received its world premiere this week at the Annecy International Animation Festival, and to mark the occasion Netflix released the film's full trailer.

The trailer introduces us to the movie's central dynamic between a knight framed for a crime he didn't commit and the titular shapeshifting teen, who also happens to be the only one who can prove his innocence. It also introduces us to the film's world, a sort of medieval/futuristic mashup. And to the film's visuals, which take inspiration from the graphic novel, while adding a cel-shaded sheen.

Nimona is directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane and written by Robert L. Baird and Lloyd Taylor. It stars the voices of Chloe Grace Moretz, Riz Ahmed, Eugene Lee Yang, Frances Conroy, Lorraine Toussaint, Beck Bennett, RuPaul Charles, Indya Moore, Julio Torres and Sarah Sherman. It's co-produced by N.D. Stevenson and Patrick Osborne, produced by Roy Lee, Karen Ann Ryan, Julie Zackary and executive produced by Megan Ellison and Robert L Baird.

Nimona will stream on Netflix everywhere from June 30, 2023.
