Toei Animation Europe Celebrate Monkey D. Luffy's Birthday

What is the biggest anime and manga series on the planet? There's a strong argument to be made that it's Eiichiro Oda's pirate saga One Piece. The original manga has sold more than 510 million copies worldwide since 1997. The anime has aired over 1102 episodes and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

To mark this impressive milestone as well as protagonist Monkey D. Luffy's birthday on May 5,  Toei Animation Europe will be bringing giant inflatables to five major cities in Europe. Fans are invited to come and visit and partake in the many activities on site. The inflatables will represent the different evolutions of Luffy that occur in the series.

Milan, Italy - Piazza Gae Aulenti in Porta Nuova - Strawhat

Berlin, Germany - Alexa Mall - Gear 2

London, United Kingdom - Outernet, Now Trending - Gear 3

Madrid, Spain - Shopping Center Principe Pio - Gear 4

Paris, France - Hôtel de la Marine - Gear 5

Each location will be decorated in the colours of One Piece. Fans are invited to take selfies at the locations and upload them to www.luffybirthday2024.com or using the hashtag #LuffyBirthday2024 on Instagram. Those who can't make it to one of the locations can follow along with events at www.luffybirthday2024.com.

One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his quest to become King Of The Pirates and find the treasure known as the One Piece. Alongside his loyal crew he comes up against other pirates, Marines, fish-men, sea monsters and other foes. The series won the Best Continuing Series twice at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, and inspired a successful live-action Netflix series.
