Episode 1 Of Igloo Animations' 'Holt' is Available To Watch Online

Irish animation studio Igloo Animations (Fantasy Irelandare back with a new series, fantasy adventure Holt hitting Irish TV screens this April. But even if you don't have access to Irish telly, broadcaster RTE has released the entire first episode for free via YouTube. And you can watch it now.

Holt is created by Trevor Courtney, and written by Courtney, Danny Stack, Maria O' Loughlin, Sinead Fagan, and Justin Carr. It's directed by Courtney and Julie Rush and produced by Courtney, Vikas Kumar, and Suzanne Kelly. It features music by Paul Dowling. The series is co-produced with Digitoonz India.

The series features three classmates Roo, Umba and Metric from the planet Eire, who barely know each other but are thrown together following a shipwreck. They crash land on Fomoire, an infamous prison planet teeming with monsters, untold secrets and unknown dangers. Just when it looks like their luck had run out they run into Jeanie, a mysterious prism, who grants them the ability to merge into a powerful superbeing named Holt. But it comes with a catch. The fusion only lasts a few minutes before they fall apart again.

The first episode depicts the trio getting to know each other, landing on Fomoire and encountering a fearsome creature. Luckily, they soon run into Jeanie... and then their adventure truly begins.

It's a fun show, that combines sci-fi conventions with Irish culture and folklore. Not only are there shamrocks everywhere but names are taken from Irish culture and language- planet Eire is named after the Irish name for Ireland itself and Fomoire is named after a mythical race of giants. And you can bet the references don't stop there.

Later in the series, the trio must contend with The Blight, a mysterious dark force that threatens to consume the universe. They must survive the dangerous world of Fomoire, uncover its secrets and assemble allies in order to save the universe and save their home.

Holt is broadcast in Ireland on Mondays on RTÉ2 & RTÉ Kids from 15:55, and is airing as double-bill episodes.
