Annecy Announces Feature Film Line-Up and Special Events
Ahead of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the organisers have held their annual press conference. Having previously revealed their short film, commissioned and TV films selection, they revealed the feature film line-up (both in and out of competition), as well as Special Events, Making Ofs and Masterclasses.
Features screening include Decarado, The Violinist, In Waves, Nobody, Tangles, The Sunrise Files and Viva Carmen! Films screening under the Contrechamps banner include 58th, A New Dawn, Blaise, Son Of A Bitch, Spacetime Chronicles, The Obsessed and Winnipeg, Seeds Of Hope.
Meanwhile, films screening out of competition include Born In The Jungle, Brave Cat, Chimney Town: Frozen In Time, Dante, Monster Mia, Paris ni Saku Étoile, The Last Whale Singer and Cartoon Saloon's new animated feature, the mysterious Julian. Screening under the Midnight Special banner is a selection of envelope-pushing films, including Gregor, Sekiro: No Defeat, Soul Shift and Zsazsa Zaturnnah.
Special Events include masterclasses with animation legend Mike Judge and Ricky Gervais, fresh off his Netflix animated series Alley Cats. There are sneak peeks into Laika's Wildwood, Batman: Knightfall, DreamWorks Animation's The Forgotten Island, Remi Chaye's Fleur and The Ghost in The Shell from Science Saru. There are also a selection of studio panels with presentations from Aardman, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Netflix and Warner Bros Animation. There are also early screenings of Minions and Monsters- which will be the opening night film- and Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie.
Making of sessions feature new Adult Swim comedy My Two Cars, Rick and Morty spin-off President Curtis (world premiere) and Duncan Jones's sci-fi feature Rogue Trooper.
The festival will be welcoming indie animation legends The Brothers Quay as guests of honour. They will be hosting a masterclass and will each be presented with an honorary Cristal.
This year's Annecy Festival runs from the 21st to 27th June 2026, with its accompanying market running from 23rd-26th June.
