Disney Releases First Full Length 'Moana' Trailer

After whetting our appetites with a number of teasers, Disney have finally released a full-length trailer for their upcoming feature Moana. Running over two minutes, the new preview gives us the best look at the film we've had so far- and crucially gives us our first chance to get a good look at the story itself.

Via a voice-over, we learn that Moana's island is facing an oncoming danger the like of which they've never seen before. Legends tell of "...a hero that will journey to find the Demigod Maui and together they will save us all. That hero is (of course) Moana.. although she may find that Maui isn't quite what she was expecting.

This trailer packs in an awful lot- from that epic and foreboding introduction to lots of action, some impressive looking set-pieces and plenty of humour. As we know from the earlier trailers, the relationship between Moana (voiced by newcomer Auli’i Cravalho) and Maui (Dwayne Johnson) is going to be a big part of the appeal of this film. There's even more of it here, and it only confirms the duo will give Zootopia's Nick and Judy a run for their money in this year's best buddy-movie pairing.

There's a ton of stunning animation here, and it's clear that the South Pacific setting has allowed Walt Disney Animation Studios to produce some of their best environments to date. The water effects too, rival anything we've ever seen before.  But perhaps best of all.. we get our first proper look at the Kakamora- the coconut-shell sporting pint-sized pirates. And as Moana herself says.. they're "kinda cute".

Moana is directed by the legendary Disney duo of Ron Clements and John Musker. The film will be in cinemas in the US from November 23rd and in the UK from December 2nd 2016. Disney also recently released a brand new poster, which you can see below.
