[Updated] GKIDS Films and Fathom Events Team Up For 'Ghibli Fest'

Recently GKIDS Films teamed up with Fathom Events to bring back Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke to cinemas across the United States. Following the success of these screenings they're coming back for more. This time though, they will be putting no less than six Studio Ghibli favourites back on the big screen, starting this summer.

Teaming up with Fathom allows GKIDS to have a much wider release than the typical indie theatre circuit, giving more fans a chance to see them than ever before. Studio Ghibli Fest will run monthly starting with screenings of My Neighbour Totoro on June 25 and June 26 2017.

The full line up is:

  • My Neighbour Totoro (June 25 and 26)
  • Kiki's Delivery Service (July 23 and 24)
  • Castle In The Sky (August 27 and 28)
  • Nausicaä Of The Valley Of The Wind (September  24 and 25)
  • Spirited Away (October 29 and 30)
  • Howl's Moving Castle (November 26 and 27)
Each screening will be accompanied by Studio Ghibli Minifest "an ongoing festival of award-winning short animated films from around the world, as part of the exclusive event experience."

Tickets are available now.

It has also been announced that GKIDS will team up with Fathom for their release of the French CGI film Mune: Guardian Of The Moon. The dates are to be confirmed but it is expected to be released before the end of the year.
