Eleven Arts Bring 'A Silent Voice', 'Castle Of Cagliostro' to US Cinemas

Both in the United Kingdom and United States anime in cinemas is experiencing something of a boom. Quite probably, more Japanese animated features have screened theatrically over the past couple of years than ever before. In a break with how it's always been, a number of these features have been released in the UK quite some time before they reach the US.

One such film was Naoko Yamada's A Silent Voice, which was released in UK cinemas back in March. In the meantime there had been no sign of an American release whatsoever. At this year's Anime Expo, it was finally confirmed that the film would be coming to US Cinemas via Eleven Arts, this October. Other details are to be confirmed, but UK distributor Anime Limited has previously revealed that an English dub of the film was in production that would be included in the film's eventual home release. Presumably, that dub is being produced for this US release.

Eleven Arts are a relative newcomer to the anime scene but have teamed up with local anime distributors in the past to screen anime features including Sword Art Online, Sailor Moon and Yu Gi Oh.

At the Anime Expo panel they announced that they would also release Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection this October. The new movie is the latest part of the magical girl franchise which already includes four TV series and two films.

Eleven Arts will also screen Hayao Miyazaki's classic Lupin III: The Castle Of Cagliostro. The 1979 film was Miyazaki's feature debut, years before the founding of Studio Ghibli, and feature many of the trademark touches that would feature in all his later work. It will be screening to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lupin III franchise. The release date is listed as "Fall", but no specific release details have been revealed as yet.
