Vote For 2015's Top Animated Feature in the Empire Awards

In the annual parade of Awards Ceremonies, The Empire Awards are not exactly the most high profile. Yet unlike most of the big names, you can have a say in who wins, because the victors are decided not by some shady cabal of industry insiders but by the public. Run by the UK's Empire magazine, this year's ceremony will take place March 25th and be hosted by comedian (and co-writer of Edgar Wright's Shadows movie at DreamWorks) David Walliams.

Animation is represented in several categories this year. Fresh from it's win at the BAFTAs, Inside Out has picked up two nominations- for the expected Best Animated Movie but also a nod for Best Comedy. The other nominees for the Animation category are Shaun The Sheep Movie, Minions, Song Of The Sea and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (the latter two having been 2015 releases in the UK).

The best short film category does not distinguish between animation and live-action, and the Pixar duo of Lava and Sanjay's Super Team will compete with Don Hertzfeldt's World of Tomorrow and the live-action shorts Kung Fury and Stutterer

The ceremony prides itself on awarding films overlooked by the bigger awards bodies- so this year Mad Max Fury Road and Star Wars Episode VII are the most nominated films. If you'd like to help your favourite animated movie out you can head over to the relevant page right now and make your voice heard -and be in with a chance to win tickets to the ceremony itself.
