'Transformers: The Movie' 30th Anniversary Edition Coming to DVD and Blu-Ray

Forget Michael Bay. For true Transformers fans there's only one true big-screen movie outing for the franchise that counts. And it sure doesn't have Shia LaBeouf in it. 2016 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the first animated movie, and it's time for Optimus Prime and co to roll out once again, as Shout Factory have announced a 30th Anniversary edition of the original Transformers The Movie for fans in the US and Canada.

In collaboration with Hasbro, Shout Factory are producing a newly restored transfer, remastered from the original 35mm print.  It will come in collectible packaging and come with bonus content- although what that will be is to be confirmed. This will mark the first time the film has been available on Blu-ray in North America.

Here's how the film was described by AFA's own Rachael Ward in her review from last year:

After almost a decade of war with Earth as the main battleground, the war between the Autobots and Decepticons has come to a head. With their home planet of Cybertron under full Decepticon control, the Autbots prepare to take back their home using the allies and resources they have gained from their time on Earth. With victory so close at hand, Megatronmakes one final push to eliminate the Autobots once and for all. Who will survive the final chapter of the Cybertronian war and will they be able to enjoy their hard earned victory when the threat of a planet eater appears out of deep space?

Transformers The Movie: 30th Anniversary Edition will be available from September 13th 2016. Check out the cover design below.
