New 'Loving Vincent' US Theatrical Trailer Released

Loving Vincent was the big crowdpleaser at this year's Annecy Festival, playing to packed houses throughout the week and taking home the audience award. With the film's American release a little over a month away, a new theatrical trailer has now arrived online.

Calling itself "the world’s first fully oil painted feature film", it brings to the screen the life story of legendary artist Vincent Van Gogh, using artwork based on the painter's own style. It is a Polish/UK Co-production and is directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman.   65,000 paintings were produced by 125 artists from around the world and it promises to be something special.

Whether the film's festival success will translate in to box office success remains to be seen. However, based on this trailer it looks like this will live up to the hype- in terms of quality at least. Stunning animation combine with a compelling story ("how does a man go from calm to suicidal in six weeks?") to make for a film that will definitely be worth seeking out when it opens near you.

The cast features the voices of Saoirse Ronan, Chris O'Dowd and  Aiden Turner with Robert Gulaczyk as Van Gogh himself. Loving Vincent arrives in US cinemas on September 22 and in the UK on October 13.
