Nick Kroll's 'Adult' Animated Netflix Comedy 'Big Mouth' NSFW Trailer Released

Ever since they hit it big with the critical and audience favourite BoJack Horseman, Netflix have been looking for their next big adult animation series. Could they have found it with Big Mouth?  Netflix's new adult comedy comes from creators  Nick Kroll (The League), Andrew Goldberg (Family Guy, American Dad) and Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett (who wrote the 1998 movie Madeline). Based on this first trailer we remain unconvinced.

The show stars Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Kline, Maya Rudolph, Jenny Slate and Jordan Peele among many other well-known comic actors. It has a pretty intriguing premise- where the process of puberty is represented by the presence of anthropomorphised "Hormone Monsters".

The animation comes from Titmouse and looks to be perfectly decent, but the character designs are something of an acquired taste.

The execution here looks to be leaning very heavily on crude humour and the shock factor- like much American 'adult' animation.  While there's nothing innately wrong with that in itself, the trailer seems light on actual laughs (although this is of course, totally subjective).  Still, it's not fair to write off something until you've seen it, so we will reserve judgement for now. This could still prove to surprise us-  BoJack Horseman's first trailers didn't blow anyone away when they came out, either.

You can check out the (very much NSFW) trailer and judge for yourself.  The 10 episode first season will be available on Netflix everywhere from September 29.

Big Mouth is coming to Netflix, September 29. Big Mouth is a 10-episode, half-hour edgy adult animated comedy from real-life best friends Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg about the glorious nightmare that is teenaged puberty. Comedian John Mulaney lends his voice to the character of Andrew, while Kroll (who serves as co-creator, executive producer) voices many including best friend Nick. Maya Rudolph, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Fred Armisen, Jenny Slate and Jessi Klein are among those who lend their voice to the series.
