'How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World' Footage To Screen At Annecy

Fans of the How To Train Your Dragon series have been waiting a long time for the third film to take flight. The first film came out back in 2010, and the sequel came out four years later. Dean DeBlois's much-anticipated trilogy-closer has been repeatedly pushed back and is now set to come out on March 1, 2019.

Things have been pretty quiet for some time, but with less than a year now to go until the movie comes out. things are finally becoming clear. The first big news is that the film now has a new title- How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

A new official synopsis accompanies the announcement:

As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away.  When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.

What's more, the first public screening of preview footage from the new movie is set to take place this summer. The footage will be unveiled at this year's Annecy Festival in France, where director DeBlois will present a first look at the film and its production. The event is set to take place on June 14, although the festival's full schedule will not be available until May.

DreamWorks Animation will have a big presence at this year's festival, where they will also be premiering Bilby and Bird Karama, the first two film produced as part of their new shorts program. Trollhunters executive producer Rodrigo Blaas will present first look footage of 3 Below, the upcoming second part of the Trollhunters/ Tales Of Arcadia series.

For those of us not lucky enough to be headed to Annecy this June, hopefully, we won't have to wait too much longer for our first look. Surely a trailer can't be too far behind?
