Netflix Announce New Adult Animated Comedy 'Paradise P.D.'

Netflix is continuing to invest heavily in animation both for family and adult audiences. The latest series to be added to their ever-expanding upcoming slate is Paradise P.D., an adult animated comedy from the creators of the now cancelled Fox series Brickleberry, Waco O’Guin and Roger Black.

Netflix describes the show: "If you ever wanted to watch an edgy comedy about a wildly incompetent police force and their talking dog attempting to take down a drug ring in small town America, then we have good news for you."

The voice cast will include Tom Kenny, Dana Snyder, Sarah Chalke and Dave Herman.

The series is to premiere later this year with a 10 episode first season. If you've ever seen Brickleberry then just from the initial image, you may agree that it looks pretty familiar. Swap out park rangers for small-town cops and a talking bear for talking dog and you've got Paradise P.D.

While more adult animation is a good thing, it would be more interesting to see Netflix commision more series that push the envelope like Bojack Horseman, or even (pretty radical idea here) step outside the comedy genre entirely, like Castlevania.

Of course, it's not fair to judge based simply on one image and a synopsis, and for all we know this could be something special. Afer all, Big Mouth turned out to be much better than expected. We'll find out later this year.
