'Haikara-San: Here Comes Miss Modern' Dub Cast Revealed

Eleven Arts have been gradually revealing details of their upcoming North American release of Haikara-San: Here Comes Miss Modern. So far, we've seen posters, trailers and a screening list for the first part of the two-part series. Now, Eleven Arts have announced the main cast for the English language version of the films.

Haikara-San is adapted from a much-loved 70's shojo romance manga, which has already inspired an animated TV series and a live-action movie. It takes place in early 20th century Japan and centers on a tomboyish 17-year old named Benio Hanamura, who would rather spend her time kendo training or climbing trees with her friends than conform to what society expects her to be.

In the dub, the lead role of Benio will be voiced by Mimi Torres (Fallout 4, Sleeping Dogs). The male lead, Shinobu Ijuin, will be played by Robbie Daymond (A Silent Voice, Digimon Adventure Tri). Benio's boss Tosei Aoe will be portrayed by Keith Silverstein (Overwatch, Fate Apocrypha). Shinobu's subordinate Shingo Onijima will be played by  Kirk Thornton (Naruto, Samurai Champloo). Tamaki Kitakoji- one of Benio's best friends- will be voiced by Cristina Vee (Sailor Moon, Madoka Magica).

The film will also be screening in Japanese with English subtitles. Check with your local venue for details.

Haikara-San: Here Comes Miss Modern Part One will be released in the US and Canada on June 8, 2017. Find a screening here. The second part is expected to be released later in the year.
