'The Big Bad Fox And Other Tales' English Cast Announced

The Big Bad Fox And Other Tales is a film that we've been following for some time now. Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert's 2D animated feature has opened in its native France and played at several film festivals around the world. However, we've been kept waiting for news of the US and UK release dates.

We still don't have a precise release date- GKIDS Films say they will release it at an unspecified date "this fall"- but the English language cast has been announced for the film. While most recent dubs of GKIDS releases have been produced by NYAV Post, this one will be different. Produced in association with the film's UK distributor StudioCanal, the cast is made up of talented British actors and comedians. Fans of Britsh comedy will probably recognise at least some of the names here.

Bill Bailey (stand-up comedian and star of Black Books, Spaced and Hot Fuzz) will play Duck.

Adrian Edmondson (star of The Young Ones,  Bottom and The Last Jedi) will be Rabbit.

Justin Edwards ( a comedic actor with a long list of credits, including roles in both Paddington movies)  will be the voice of Pig.

Matthew Goode (The Crown, Watchmen) will appear as Wolf.

Celia Imrie (a much-respected actor known for many roles including Calendar Girls, The Bridget Jones series and Dinnerladies) will be Chicken.

Phil Jupitus (stand-up comedian best known for Never Mind The Buzzcocks) will be Dog.

Giles New ( Ronja The Robber's Daughter, Pirates of The Carribean series) will be Fox.

The countryside isn't always as calm and peaceful as it's made out to be, and the animals on this farm are particularly agitated: a fox who mothers a family of chicks, a rabbit who plays the stork, and a duck who wants to be Santa Claus. If you think life in the country is a walk in the park, think again! Directors Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert adapt Renner's own acclaimed graphic novel into a delirious, delightful triptych of interlocking stories, with a pacing and visual spontaneity that harkens back to classic Looney Tunes shorts and slapstick two-reelers. But underneath the gags (and there are plenty of them), the three stories offer a sensitive and beautiful portrayal of family, and the anxieties of modern life.

Featuring a host of voices from the world of British comedy, including Bill Bailey, Adrian Edmondson, Justin Edwards, Matthew Goode, Celia Imrie, Phill Jupitus and Giles New, THE BIG BAD FOX AND OTHER TALES is a heart-warming portrayal of the pitfalls of family life.
