Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2019)

Two worlds collide when Shredder and the Foot Clan team up with Ra's al Ghul and the League of Assassins in Gotham City. Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are butting heads when they cross paths but decide to work together since they share the same goal. I had the opportunity to see this movie back at Wondercon and it was a thrilling experience! The movie is based on the comic  miniseries, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I must admit that I have not read the comics and went in not knowing what to expect. However, this is still easily one of the most entertaining DC movies I have seen in a while. It was action packed with a stellar cast that gave unforgettable performances.

Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros Animation in association with Nickelodeon. It is directed by Jake Castorena and written by Marly Halpern-Graser.

Although the plot is fairly simple, it's the overall experience that makes it worth the watch. Being a longtime Batman fan and a new TMNT fan, it was exciting to see them all in movie together and seeing their interactions. It has everything you could ask for and more! Mikey stole the show by being adorably funny. Barbara and Donnie working together with the scientific stuff. We get to see the growth from Batman with the help of Raph, learning to be close with his family. If you’re expecting to see other TMNT characters, you might be a little disappointed but it is the turtles going to Gotham City on a mission after all. It won't stop you from having a good time watching it.

The voice cast all did an amazing job! Troy Baker voiced both Batman and The Joker, he could have fooled you into thinking it was Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill though. There's a lot of intense action scenes that keeps you engaged such as Batman facing the Shredder. We’re used to seeing Batman taking on anyone and it seems like he's finally met his match which makes their first encounter interesting. I didn't know what to think of the style but seeing it in motion put those worries to rest. It has a lot of good choreography and angles when they are fighting.

There's a subplot used to set the gang off their trail, where we visit some familiar faces. The Joker using the ooze to mutate all the villains and himself and then everything starts to unravel. From that point, it moves onto the third act. It'll have you cheering the heroes on as they save the city.

Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an entertaining movie that draws you in. If you're a fan of either or both, chances are you will have a good time watching it. Don’t worry so much if you haven't read the comics because it doesn't make you feel left out. There's a rewarding ending and be sure to stick around after the credits. It is setting up for a sequel!
