The Second 'Frozen II' Trailer Promises An Epic Adventure

After years of secrecy, we got our first look at Frozen II back in February. The first teaser took many people by surprise, featuring what some feel is quite a different tone from the first film. Now that the second trailer has arrived, we know a little more- but not that much.

The new trailer features an extended look at the stunning sequence from the first featuring Elsa using her freezing powers on a stormy sea. In the longer version, she ends underwater, and encountering some kind of ghostly horse beneath the waves.

Over a montage of images featuring Elsa, Anna and Kristof we hear a voice-over say "Elsa, the past is not what it seems. You must find the truth. Go north across the enchanted lands and into the unknown". These words are spoken by Pabbie (Ciaran Hinds) the troll elder. "We've always feared Elsa's powers are too much for this world. Now we must hope they are enough!"

Some comments surrounding the first teaser showed that some people thought the sequel was going in a darker direction- a description that didn't seem right. This new trailer reveals that there's nothing particularly dark about it (unless you count the fact that some of it takes place at night). Frozen II looks like it's going to be a full on fantasy adventure movie- with some utterly gorgeous visuals.

We're still not entirely sure what the mystery is that sends Anna, Elsa and company into the enchanted forest, but there's speculation that it will be tied in with their family somehow.  Here's Disney's latest synopsis:

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.

We know it's also going to have a whole new batch of songs from  Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, but there's not even a hint of that here. It's great that so much is still under wraps in these first trailers. No doubt later trailers will reveal much more though.

Frozen II is directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and will be in cinemas in the US and UK on November 22. We've also got a pair own new posters (seen here) a moody new one for the US and a brighter one for Japan. Check out the trailer below.
