'On-Gaku: Our Sound' Comes to Blu-Ray/DVD and Digital Next March

Indie anime feature On-Gaku: Our Sound is now screening in select US cinemas thanks to GKIDS Films.  If your local venues remain shuttered, or if you just don't feel comfortable returning to cinemas just yet, then don't worry, your chance to see the film won't be too far off. GKIDS and their distribution partner Shout Factory have now announced the home release will follow in early March 2021.

On Gaku follows three high school delinquents who decide to start a band, and is animated almost entirely by director Kenji Iwaisawa. Featuring a lead performance by Japanese alt-rocker Shintaro Sakamoto and adapted from a manga by Hiroyuki Ohashi, it offers a lo-fi alternative to both Hollywood animation and high-end theatrical anime. The film won the Nelvana Grand Prize at the 2019 Ottowa International Animation Festival and was a 2020 selection at Annecy.

On Gaku: Our Sound will arrive on Blu-Ray and DVD combo-pack and digital platforms on March 9. The Blu-Ray/DVD release comes complete with extensive special features including a feature-length making-of documentary and four short films by director Iwaisawa.
