TV News: HBO Max, Final Space Season 3, The Great North, and More

HBO Max have revealed that a whole lot of new and classic animation will join the streaming service in January 2021. Warner Bros Animation's all-new Looney Tunes Cartoons will continue when the next batch of shorts arrive on January 21. The 10 new episodes will include Taz's first starring role in a full short, coming up against Bugs Bunny in a Roman Colosseum. Bugs will also encounter Elmer Fudd, Cecil Turtle and a leprechaun in the new episodes, while Daffy and Porky Pig continue their adventures. Sylvester and Tweety and Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner will also be back.

Before that though, a number of Cartoon Network favorites from back in the day are set to make their debuts on the service on January 1. Codename Kids Next Door, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd n Eddy and The Grim Adventure Of Billy and Mandy will all be available for a new audience (and nostalgic adults).  New episodes of current series Craig Of The Creek, Long Live The Royals and Apple and Onion will also be available from New Years Day.

Meanwhile, HBO Max's sister company Adult Swim has revealed a very dramatic first look teaser trailer for season 3 of Olan Roger's adult sci-fi comedy Final Space's eagerly awaited third season.  New episodes are due to air in early 2021.

Fox have revealed a February 14 debut for new animated comedy The Great North.  The series comes from Bob's Burgers writers/executive producers Wendy Molyneaux and Lizzie Molyneaux-Logelin, and EP Loren Bouchard. The series was created by the Molyneaux Sisters and Minty Lewis (Close Enough, Regular Show).

The series follows the eccentric Alaskan family the Tobins, including patriarch Beef, voiced by (who else?) Nick Offerman,  his daughter Judy voiced by Jenny Slate and his brother Wolf, voiced by Will Forte. The series is a 20th Television production, with Bento Box producing the animation. The Great North will air as part of Animation Domination at 8.30pm ET/PT

The UK's monthly online anime film festival Screen Anime have announced their line-up for January 2021. The selection includes Keiichi Hara's animated biopic Miss Hokusai, and Makoto Shinkai's feature debut The Place Promised In Our Early Days. Also available is Mamoru Oshii-scripted Jin-Roh The Wolf Brigade and anthology sequel Genius Party Beyond. This month's selected series is Masaaki Yuasa's cult series The Tatami Galaxy.
