Own Studio Ghibli's 'Earwig And The Witch' This March

Studio Ghibli's first ever CG animated film Earwig and The Witch from director Goro "Hayao's my Dad" Miyazaki is hitting both US Cinemas and HBO Max this February. Those who prefer to own their animation, either digitally or on shiny disc won't have to wait that much longer. GKIDS Films and their partner Shout Factory have announced the film's home video release for this March and April

Earwig is the latest GKIDS release to apparently have an expediated home release during these strange times. Cinema viewing is simply not an option for many Americans right now and many more are opting to stay away over safety concerns. So GKIDS offering alternative viewing options is therefore most welcome.

Earwig And The Witch is directed by Goro Miyazaki and produced by Ghibli vet Toshio Suzuki, adapted from the children's book by Diana Wynne Jones (author of Howl's Moving Castle).

Growing up in an orphanage in the British countryside, Earwig has no idea that her mother had magical powers. Her life changes dramatically when a strange couple takes her in, and she is forced to live with a selfish witch. As the headstrong young girl sets out to uncover the secrets of her new guardians, she discovers a world of spells and potions, and a mysterious song that may be the key to finding the family she has always wanted.

GKIDS will release the film on digital formats from March 23 and as a limited edition Steelbook Blu-ray and a standard Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack and standalone DVD on April 6. The Blu-Ray edition is packed with exclusive special features:
