Tuca & Bertie Season 2 Lands On Adult Swim This June

In the early days of Netflix's original programming, they earned goodwill for resurrecting series that had been cancelled by traditional broadcast networks. But with Netflix having getting much more cancel-happy in the past couple of years, it's actually started to happen the other way around. That was the case with Tuca & Bertie, the acclaimed adult comedy from  Lisa Hanawalt, which was swiftly cut by Netflix shortly after its debut. As a rare adult animated series created by a woman and from a female perspective it was seen as disappointing. Last year it was announced that Adult Swim had stepped in to rescue the show and had ordered a second season.

The new episodes were promised for the summer of 2021, and seemingly the pandemic had no effect on these plans. Adult Swim have now announced that the new episodes will land on the network in the US on Sunday, June 13 at 11:30 PM ET/PT.

Adult Swim teases the new season:

Tuca (Tiffany Haddish) and Bertie (Ali Wong) are best friends, and they’re both full of ghosts! Bertie is busy excavating her inner ghouls with the help of a therapist, while Tuca prefers to stuff hers behind the toilet. She’ll deal with them later, right now she’s just too busy trying not to be single anymore! Meanwhile, Speckle (Steven Yeun) is building a new house but soon finds he's driven to the brink of insanity...good thing he’s just a cartoon.

Geese are demonized! Seagulls are romanticized! These episodes are full relatable moments and hilarity. Just be warned, you’ll never look at plants the same way again!

Tuca & Bertie is created and executive produced by Hanawalt, with BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen, and stars Tiffany Haddish, and Ali Wong also on board as EPs. The series is produced by  The Tornante Company, with animation production by ShadowMachine.
