Netflix Geeked Week: Castlevania, Blood Dragon, Arcane ,The Cuphead Show, Maya And The Three and More

Netflix's online event Geeked Week wrapped up over the weekend, and there was more animation news to come in its final day. Streamed on YouTube, Facebook and Twitch, Friday's previews were all related to video games.

The hugely popular Castlevania (based on the Capcom game series of the same name)  may have recently released its final season, but that doesn't mean the end for the franchise. Netflix revealed that a spin-off is in the works, that will feature a descendent of characters from the original. The series will follow Richter Belmont, son of Sypha and Trevor and will take place against the background of the French Revolution. The name of the spin-off has not yet been announced.

Castlevania producer Avi Shankar is also working on an animated series based on the Ubisoft game Blood Dragon. Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix is being produced by French studio Bobbypills and will feature "alter egos of Ubisoft characters in a highly referenced homage to the early '90s."

This is just one of three animated series based on Ubisoft games coming to Netflix. The French game publisher is also working with Netflix to produce series adaptations of their popular franchises Far Cry and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. The latter is to be written by Derek Kolstad, the screenwriter behind the John Wick Series, Nobody and two episodes of Marvel's The Falcon And The Winter Soldier.

A preview clip was released for The Cuphead Show, adaptation of the shoot 'em-up video game with retro Fleischer-style animation. The game's beautiful visuals are being recreated beautifully for the new series, as shown in the new video. It was also announced that Broadway star and Whose Line Is It Anyway? (US) alum Wayne Brady will be voicing the character, King Dice.

Some stunning new images were released from Riot Games League Of Legends adaptation Arcane. The event series is due later this year. A new clip was also released.
