The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf: Full Trailer Arrives

One of Netflix's biggest hits is about to get animated in the prequel The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf. It's not the first time Netflix has greenlit an animated spin-off from one of the shows- we have previously seen Altered Carbon inspiring animated movie Resleeved. This time the animated movie outing set in the world of the hit fantasy series based on Andrzej Sapkowski's series of novels.

The film is animated in South Korea by Studio Mir, the studio best known for producing Avatar The Last Airbender, The Legend Of Kora and Voltron Legendary Defender. It is directed by Kwang Il Han and written by Beau DeMayo. This is Mir's first fully produced movie, although they have provided production services for a handful of features, primarily for Warner Bros/DC's direct-to-home-video movies.

With Mir in charge, Nightmare is looking more like a dream for fans of the franchise and fantasy animation. The full trailer is showing that it's looking very impressive indeed, with Mir's usual high production values and excellent animation and design quality. Tonally and story-wise, it looks very much in line with the series that spawned it. As a fully original story though, it should also be friendly to newcomers.

The film follows the younger years of Vesemir as he escapes from humble beginnings to become a Witcher. Vesemir will go on to later become the mentor of Geralt, the protagonist of the main series (played on screen by Henry Cavill). Before he can do that, he must face evil forces and his own demons.

The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf will hit Netflix on August 23, 2021. Check out the trailer, below.
