Adult Comedy 'Ten Year Old Tom' Comes To HBO Max This September

In its traditional network form, HBO has rarely ventured into the world of adult animation. The likes of Spawn, The Ricky Gervais Show and Animals have been notable as the occasional animated show to get the green light from the prestigious channel. Even among this small number The Life And Time Of Tim is a series that is often overlooked.

Running for three seasons between 2008 and 2012, Steve Dildarian's series was spun off from his 2006 short Angry Unpaid Hooker. Dildarian is back- this time for HBO Max- with his new series 10 Year Old Tom. The creator will write and Executive Produce the series as well as voicing the main character.  Also on board as an EP is TV animation veteran Nick Weidenfeld (The Boondocks, Rick & Morty), Becky Clements and Marty Adelstein

Don't be fooled by the age of the protagonist, this is definitely for adults. Visually and tonally, this looks to be very much in the same vein as the prior series. This means that the main character is going to find himself in a series of incredibly awkward situations- if you're not a fan of cringe comedy like The Office and Curb Your Enthusiasm it's certainly not going to be your cup of tea.

A bitingly-funny adult animated comedy series, Ten Year Old Tom follows the misadventures of an elementary schooler as he contends with questionable guidance from the well-meaning grownups around him. Being a kid is hard enough for Tom, but when bad influences seem to lurk around every corner – from litigious parents and drug dealing bus drivers to band teachers who want to sleep with his mom – it’s downright impossible. While the adults in Tom’s life certainly mean well, they just can’t manage to lead by example.

The 10-episode first season will stream on HBO Max from September 30. It's produced by Work Friends, a joint-venture between Weidenfield and ITV Partnership Tomorrow Studios. ITV Studios will handle international distribution.

Alongside Dildarian as Tom, the voice cast will also feature a talented voice cast of actors and comedians including Byron Bowers, Todd Glass, Gillian Jacobs, Edi Patterson and the legendary John Malkovich. Guest stars in the first season include David Duchovny, Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Lyonne and Tim Robinson.
