Adult Swim Launch New Aqua Teen Hunger Force 'Side Pieces' Shorts

Aqua Teen Hunger Force was one of Adult Swim's strangest shows. It was also one of their most successful, running for 15 years until it came to an end back in 2015. Last year we learned that it would be returning to our screens in a new movie for HBO Max, alongside fellow Swim faves The Venture Bros and Metalocalypse.

It was an unlikely success, but long before Rick and Morty came along it was one of Adult Swim's flagship shows. It went on to run for an impressive 140 episodes and even had a spin-off movie that was indirectly responsible for a major security incident.

It turns out that Master Shake, Frylock and Meatwad (who aren't teens and have nothing to do with water) will be back a lot sooner than we anticipated. The tasty trio are to be the stars of Adult Swim's latest series of Digital Shorts entitled Aquadonk Side Pieces.

The shorts, which are releasing on Adult Swim's YouTube Channel from April 18, will feature the return of several of ATHF's most memorable villains. Alongside hapless neighbour Carl, the Aqua Teens will come up against memorable adversaries The Mooninites, The Plutonians, MC Pee Pants, The Frat Aliens, Happy Time Harry, Handbanana, and The Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past.

The standalone shorts are created by the original showrunners Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, and is the second of four Digital Shorts series set to premiere on YouTube. New episodes will premiere daily at 12:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. PT, and the series will run for 10 episodes.
