Watch This: Bridging The Rift- The Making of Arcane

Video game adaptations have a notorious reputation. Although things have been improving lately with some better efforts like Sonic The Hedgehog and Detective Pikachu, many of them just don't work. If one adaptation can be truly said to have escaped the curse it's Arcane, which is inspired by the video game League Of Legends. Arguably, what makes it a real success is the fact that it stands alone and does not require any knowledge of the game to enjoy it.

We're going to be waiting quite some time for a second season, but Riot Games has begun releasing episodes of a making-of series via their YouTube channel. Bridging The Rift is a 5 part documentary which charts the production of the series in impressive detail.

Fans will be fascinated to follow the multi-year journey from a seemingly crazy idea from one of Riot's staff to a massive international project co-produced with Netflix. It also follows how Fortiche, the Parisian studio who animated the series, grew from a handful of employees to a full-sized studio capable of tackling a series on this scale.

It's a warts-and-all retelling too, and it doesn't gloss over the troubles the production had along the way. At one point the production was put on hold for months on end when it was decided that the current version wasn't working.

It takes in everything from animation production and writing to music and casting. If you're a fan of Arcane, this is an unmissable exploration of one of the most ambitious animated series ever made.

The first three episodes are available at the time of publication, and the remaining episodes will be released every Thursday on the League Of Legends Youtube Channel
