First Trolls Band Together Trailer Debuts

Dreamworks have several films that have proven successful enough to get a sequel. Several have even been popular enough to make it to a trilogy (or more, in the case of Shrek). The fifth of their franchises to make it to a third film is Trolls. The studio has just released the debut trailer for Trolls: Band Together.

The threequel begins with Poppy and Branch (Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake) an official couple. but as they grow closer, Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past. Namely that he was formally in boyband BroZone with his brothers Floyd, John Dory, Spruce and Clay. The band split while Branch was still a baby and he hasn't seen his family since.

But when Floyd is kidnapped by villainous pop stars Velvet and Veneer, Branch and Poppy embark on an adventure to get the band back together and rescue Floyd from a terrible fate.

This looks very much business as usual for the Trolls franchise. Expect bright and colourful animation and a lively soundtrack of both original songs and well-loved covers. This time with a lean towards boybands and 90's music.

New to the cast are Troye Sivan, Eric André, Daveed Diggs and Kid Cudi as Branch's bandmate brothers, as well as Camila Cabello, Zosia Mamet and RuPaul Charles.

Returning cast alongside Kendrick and Timberlake are Zooey Deschanel as Bridget; Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Gristle, Anderson Paak as Prince D, comedian Ron Funches as Cooper and Kenan Thompson as Tiny Diamond.

The film is directed by Walt Dohrn, reprising his role as director of Trolls: World Tour and co-director of the original Trolls. Tim Heitz is the co-director. Gina Shay is producer.

Trolls: Band Together is due to hit UK cinemas on October 20, with the US release following in November.
