GKIDS Announces Studio Ghibli Fest 2023
Watching movies at home is all well and good but there's still nothing quite like watching them on the big screen. Studio Ghibli Fest has for the past several years allowed American audiences the chance to see Ghibli films in cinemas. GKIDS Films and Fathom Events have announced that Ghibli Fest is back for 2023 and bigger than ever.
This year the screening series will feature all 10 of the Ghibli Films directed by Hayao Miyazaki, as well as the first-ever North American screenings of Spirited Away Live On Stage. Several of the films mark significant anniversaries- with My Neighbor Totoro celebrating its 35th anniversary, Ponyo its 15th and The Wind Rises its 10th. GKIDS itself is celebrating its 15th Anniversary.
Spirited Away Live On Stage will feature two separate performances filmed during the play's successful run in Tokyo last year.
This year there are more screenings than ever to meet fan demand. The films will screen both in dubbed and original language subtitled formats (the stage play is subtitled only). The films will be accompanied by exclusive selections from the 10 Years With Hayao Miyazaki documentary series.
