Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget
is to receive its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, it has been announced. The prestigious festival will host the long awaited sequel to the highest-grossing stop-motion film of all time.

Aardman Animation is this time teaming up with Netflix to bring to life the sequel to the 2000 original Chicken Run. The film is directed by Sam Fell (Flushed Away, ParaNorman) and written by Karey Kirkpatrick, John O'Farrell and Rachel Tunnard.

It features the voices of Thandiwe Newton and Zachary Levi as Ginger and Rocky, taking over from Julia Sawalha and the controversial Mel Gibson respectively. The cast also features Bella Ramsey, Imelda Staunton, Lyn Ferguson, David Bradley, Jane Horrocks, Romesh Ranganathan, Daniel Mays and Nick Mohammed.

The sequel sees the chickens living a peaceful life on an isolated island. Ginger and Rocky have recently hatched a little girl named Molly everything seems to be going perfectly. But back on the mainland, a new danger has arisen that threatens all of chicken-kind. In order to save the day, this time it's up to Ginger, Rocky and co to break in.

We’ve poured everything we’ve got into making this a treat for both die-hard fans and the new generation of families discovering ‘Chicken Run’ for the first time."

Kristy Matheson, BFI London Film Festival director, added: “We are so excited to be sharing the magic and artistry of the Aardman studio and their favourite feathered friends with audiences this October with a film that’s brimming with fun and has such enormous heart.”

The premiere will receive its world premiere at The Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall in London on October 14. The gala screening is supported by The Mayor Of London and Film London. There will also be simultaneous preview screenings of the film taking place at multiple cinemas across the UK. The film will be released on Netflix worldwide on December 15.

The BFI London Film Festival runs form October 4-15 2023.
